Happily on the other side...

...of Monday, that is! I'm not at all complaining about my new role, I'm just saying does everything have to be on the same day? Because it was yesterday! We started out bright and early in the drop-off line. C has to be there by 7:05, does that seem ridiculously early to anyone else?? We resolved all child-lock-mom-holding-up-the-line issues. After drop-off AP and I went in the school for a kindergarten parents meeting with the principal. They called it a "Boo Hoo Breakfast". Ha!

Right after that meeting, AP and I hurried off to her first swim lesson of the new semester. She has a new teacher and she did great! After swimming, I squeezed in some value shopping at CVS and Publix. A friend told me to blog about my favorite deals, so here are the best deals that I have gotten in the last week or so. Both were at Publix:

Anyway, after shopping we raced back to pick C up by 11:30, then it was home to eat a quick bite and be back to AP's speech appt at 12:30. Here is the little pumpkin walking with her BIG backpack into the BIG school :)

She is really starting to like her teacher and has fun with the take home assignments. I think it is going to continue to go really well. C and I entertained ourselves by watching a movie in the car while AP was at speech.

After speech we went back home for rest time that was cut short because we had to make it to C's baseball practice! (See what I mean about everything being on the same day) Thankfully, Boompa and Baba offered to meet me at C's practice to watch the kiddos so I could leave and go BACK to C's school for parent night with C's teacher...whew.

Today was much more laid back. This is C's last off day before he starts going all day every day. We are all ready for a more regular schedule.

You Are My Sunshine

Tomorrow we hit the full time swing of things for the school year. C stays at school for an hour longer, I have 2 separate parent meetings, AP has speech and swim lessons, and C has baseball!! I just might live to blog about it, that is if my head doesn't hit the pillow first!

Small Town Saturday Night

Tonight we went to a benefit for a little girl in our town who is fighting stage 4 cancer. It felt like a true smalltown affair, but was very fun! My uncle's brother is related to the little girl and he helped smoke the bbq all day long to serve tonight.

They had little games going on for the kiddos. At one point AP jumped in and tried to learn the cha cha slide! C's favorite part was looking at all of the cool cars that were a part of the antique car show!

Say What You Need To Say

Yesterday was AP's first speech therapy session of the school year. AP was not very enthused about going to speech today, as illustrated in this picture of her outside the school.

But, when I went back to the class to pick her up, she was all smiles!

Her teacher/therapist said that she was more "compliant" than she had been in May! She also said that she can make many more sounds than she could just a few months ago. She was pleased with her progress. AP was very excited to have her own little take home folder with homework. Now mommy is off to monogram a backpack to put the folder in :)

Holiday Ro-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ad

That song from the Chevy Chase vacation movie kept going through my head as we were driving to Holiday World on Sunday. I kept singing it in the car and driving Hubs crazy I'm sure :) The drive from our house to Santa Claus, Indiana was not bad at all, maybe 2 and a half hours.

Here are the kiddos giving Santa some love. AP was quick to point out that this was not the "real" one.

C and I are on these swings. Can you find us?? I think this was C's favorite ride. He said that he likes the ones that make his stomach tickle :)

AP and I did every single kiddie ride while C and daddy were in line and riding the "big" roller coaster, The Raven. C said "that was fun, but I don't ever want to do it again, ok?"

C and I rode the Liberty Launch, another ride that C does not want to ride again :) I, on the other hand, love rides like that. Bring on the heights!

The kiddos are anxiously awaiting the "real" Santa to make his appearance. Santa read them a story and they sang a few songs. AP kept interrupting the story and yelling out "I want a baby mermaid!"

We don't know this little girl, but she was a cutie and she wanted to share Santa's lap with AP. C made sure to tell Santa that he wanted a "real surfboard" for Christmas. Um, ok, do the elves make those?That's C and Daddy in the front. All four of us rode this ride the first time, but AP was not a fan and the boys wanted to do it again.

Day 2. Weary parents. On a kiddie train.

It was a great little vacation. I highly recommend this park and the water park to any families who live nearby. It is family owned and operated since some time in the 30's. They are apparently a family of faith as there was praise and worship music playing throughout the park. Hubs and I both commented about all the employees being so happy and looking like they really enjoyed working there. And the lady that you see on all the commercials pumping you up about the free Pepsi and sunscreen, she's there to greet you in the parking lot! I already miss the endless flow of free Diet Dr. Pepper....
