Celebrating Adoption

We had our photo shoot with the photographer Saturday that we found through www.celebratingadoption.org. She was awesome! I know that there are different photographers in every state, but I highly recommend checking out the website if you are an adoptive parent. It is such a good deal. You get the session fee waived and a proof of every shot they take. Our photographer met us at a local park and took so many shots of the kiddos just being themselves. I can't wait to see them all, I saw a sneak peek on her blog and they look great.

Eighteen Months Big

Yesterday, we had AP's 18 month check up. I am happy to report that she is now smack dab in the middle of "normal". Our little pumpkinhead has gone from not on the charts to the 50th percentile for height and head circumference, and the 25th percentile for weight. She weighed in at 22 pounds, and is 31 inches tall. There is now only 10 pounds separating her and C, who is 3 years older! The doc was very impressed with all of her skills. She has added a few words in the last week as well. Let's see...she can say mama, dada, brother, bye-bye, uh-oh, uh-uh (her version of no), bow, book, eat, hot....that's all I can think of right now. She can sign more, eat, all gone, and drink. She is such a joy! Here are some pics of her modeling today.

Poor C

We were supposed to go with C's class to a pumpkin farm tomorrow, but it was cancelled due to the rain.

Busy with no pictures :(

We have been busy bees here. Saturday we really needed to be in a million places at once. Hubs left at 4:15 AM (!) to go to Tuscaloosa to the UT/Alabama game. I won't even bore you with the details of the tail-kickin' that UT received. The kiddos and I headed to C's school to work at the Arts and Crafts Day from 9-10. Our job was actually to man the prize table, it was an easy assignment, I think I'll sign up for that again next year. Then I needed to be on the road to Murfreesboro to a wedding, but I managed to eek out another hour for C to stay and play the kids activities. There was a big bouncy thing and AP screamed loud enough that they bent the rules and let her in too. I think she was supposed to be 2 to get in, but she can hold her own. C actually won a prize ticket at the bean bag toss, he's got aim. I was worried that I was going to shell out dollar after dollar for tickets and he wasn't even going to walk away with a prize as the games were really geared for kids a little older. But, alas, we did end up with a little pinball game...I shudder to think about how much that little game really cost us. Then we headed over to the market area and joined in the mass chaos that was the fight for clothing with their school name or logo on it. Some of these parents go crazy! I don't really understand what the big deal is, but I did manage to get C a cool hoodie. There were no adult sizes left in anything. I remember it being this way when I was there in school as well. They should really just order more, but I think they like to see everything selling like hotcakes (how fast do hotcakes really sell?). Then my aunt came through and met me at the school and took the kiddos home with her (after working a night nursing shift, she rocks). I finally headed to the wedding that was an hour away. By the time I got back to get the kiddos we just had time to eat, bathe, and go to bed. Hubs made it home right before bedtime. It made for a very long day.

Why God Made Long Tongues

We did some baking tonight for an Arts & Crafts Festival at C's school. C told me "I know why God made my tongue super long....so I could reach the inside of the mixers"
And this belly shot of AP is to show why all of her shirts now fit like spandex and we need to shopping! And here is a pic of our jam session tonight. Daddy had his guitar out, but wouldn't let me take a picture!
That's C on the high hat and AP on the snare...

the cute kiddos!

We're back

The kiddos and I made it back from Ohio yesterday. We were there for my little sister's baby shower. The shower went well. It was in a little lodge on a cute fishing lake there. The baby that is soon to make it's debut will have more clothes than there are days to wear them. I guess it's too hard to resist the cute baby girl clothes. I, of course, left the battery to my camera in Tn so I had to buy a disposable one and I don't have the pics back yet.

On another note, AP hit the 18 month mark last Thursday. We need to get her check-up scheduled to see how much she has grown. I know that we stopped to get her new dress shoes this weekend and she had skipped a size, so I know her foot is growing! I also need to make an appt for 18 month pictures. I stumbled upon another blog and saw a post about a network of photographers that celebrate adoption. There are 2 in our area that offer free session fees and special deals if you have adopted in the last year. I've got to check it out.

Not much else going on here, pics coming soon...

I Saw What I Saw

Although we've done the same thing in two other impoverished countries, this video compels me to do more. It makes me want to leave tomorrow.

Embracing My Inner Crafter (or something like that)

I have been working on several craft projects and finished some this past week. I finished the mask for C's costume, but forgot to take a pic when he was modeling it, so that will come later. I would love to see if those of you who don't already know what he is supposed to be can guess it. I have also been working on some stuff for my little sister's baby shower that I am helping to host in Ohio next weekend. I made these favors. The picture doesn't do them justice, they turned out really cute. There is a tea bag inside and the outside says "A Baby is Brewing" and has the date of her shower. I used the same footprint stamp to touch up the napkins as well.
I got on a roll while stamping napkins and stamped these for a fall-themed party I had at my house last Friday. (Shanny, I stole your chicken cup recipe again!) I am lovin' me some stampin. I am also going to attempt to make a diaper cake for one of the centerpieces. We'll see how that goes.

And just because....here is Superman and his faithful sidekick on their way to bed. Don't they seem too happy to be going to bed?

You're not cool...

...unless you are drooling chocolate and have a green bean on your eye.
