Ghouls at Grassmere

Friday night after a day full of school Halloween parties, we picked Daddy up from work early and went to hang out with the Ghouls at Grassmere Zoo.
We met up with friends there. You can see AP's little friend was Batman and she was Batgirl. It was so cute!
The Merry Go Round became the Scary Go Round, although there was nothing new or scary about it :)

C's little girlfriend was a princess. They decided to have a princess vs ninja joust.
We went on a spooky hayride. There were some really cool animated things that would have been even spookier had we waited until it was dark to ride, but I'm glad we didn't because the line got super long!

The zoo has an old house from the Victorian time period that sits on the property. It's called the Croft House. I had never toured the house before. The tour that we took this time focused on death, dying, and superstitions during the Victorian era. It was pretty interesting. It is also neat that the last 2 ladies from the Croft family who lived in the house in the late 80's donated all the land that is the zoo to get themselves out of financial trouble. The deal was that the land had to be used to educate children about animals. The ladies continued to live there until they passed away.

The kiddos trick-or-treated through the zoo and we saw the Flamingo Lagoon for the first time. That is something that was recently added late this summer.

After the zoo, we were all starving so we went with our friends to dinner. These two ended up having a table to themselves.
They are so sweet together! I get sad every time I think about C's best friend moving to Texas. They are definitely leaving the 2nd week in December :( I am already planning in my head when we will be able to make our first trip to Texas!

Sweet Notes and Class Parties

AP recently learned how to write the word "Mom" so I now get sweet little notes several times a day with Mom written all over them. And I love it. She loves to see how excited I get about her notes and she gives me a big hug. It's good stuff. This particular "mom" below was written on my shower wall :)Wednesday night at church AP's class could wear an animal costume. This is not her real costume, but a cute one that I picked up at a consignment sale last year. Rainbow bear never looked so cute!

Tonight C and I hit the kitchen as soon as we got home from school. First C helped me make a dip for the fruit tray that we are taking to his class party tomorrow.
Then we made little ghost cookies for C to give to his friends.

AP's class has spread their Halloween celebration over a few days. She is very excited that Daddy is coming to spend the day with her at school tomorrow!! Her teacher has already told me that she is putting him to work :)

Sunday Afternoon Sewing

Hittin the Hay

First of all, I love this picture of my boys!Saturday night we went on a hayride with a big group of friends. One of our friend's parents have a huge farm a few towns away and have been so nice to open it up to our group several times.
We roasted hot dogs and made smores.

C enjoyed the "roasting" part more than the actual eating part.

The weather was PERFECT for a fall cookout. We are very thankful for our friends and their generosity :)

Fall On In

Fall is almost my favorite season to decorate for. I love all the pumpkins, mums, and fall scented candles!
(Ignore the water running down the stairs because I had just watered the plants :)

Caramel Apples with Sprinkles!!

Why didn't we think of this when I was little?
Fortunately for me, AP got tired of hers about halfway through and I couldn't let it go to waste!

First First Grade Field Trip

Friday I went with C's class to a local pumpkin farm. We have been to this particular farm every year, sometimes twice a year, but C still loves it!
It's hard to pick out just the right pumpkin. We had a lesson on the proper way to carry a pumpkin and C is demonstrating that here.

C and his "girlfriend". Although he looks angry, he wasn't.My favorite part, the Hillbilly Pig Races :) Squealie Nelson took home the Oreo.

I thought it was funny that C and his friend were standing alike. The picture was right after they had both decided to go down the monster slide head first. They both slid past the end of the landing and went face first in the dirt. C got "slide burn" on his chest!

Can you tell he was ready to get on the bus? He thinks that is the coolest part of going on a field trip!

I Am A Blessed Girl

Bang Bang and Big Bang

Last Friday Hubs and I had some much needed grown up time :) We went on a double date with our good friends. Hubs has been telling me for a few months about the Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish Grill. Honestly, I didn't think it would be that good, but it was reaaally good! Go try it!

After dinner we went to Big Bang, the dueling piano bar in Nashville. We had lots of fun making requests and singing along to boy band songs that were requested :)

It's like baby baby baby ooohhh, I thought you'd always be mine ....
