Home Again Home Again...

We are home and accounted for. Actually, hubby has already left again for a business trip. He barely had enough time to pack a new suitcase. The rest of the Reunion was lots of fun. We got to spend a lot of time with one of the other Kyrg families. They were a delight, adorable children, and great conversation (check them out at Tapsalteerie Farms on my bloglist). I will share pictures after I get permission.
Of course, it wouldn't be right if we didn't go a few days without a major incident. On Saturday afternoon, C went facefirst onto the concrete in the parking garage at the resort we were staying at. He was all wrapped up in a beach towel heading to the elevator after a few laps in the lazy river. He tripped over his towel and couldn't get his hands out to brace his fall, so he fell mouth first. His poor lip swelled up immediately and his nose was purple for a while. Our main concern was one of his front teeth was knocked out of place, the gum was bleeding, but the tooth was not loose. Thankfully, one of our Kyrg friends works in an ER, so we called him for his advice. Basically, the tooth will either tighten back up or become discolored and die. There's nothing we can do. So, C went to the Banquet Saturday night with a fat upper lip and had yogurt and ice cream for dinner.
Sunday was a long 11 hour drive home.
Today, AP had a doc appt for another round of shots and then we headed to the dentist just so he could take a look at C's tooth. He just seconded what our Kyrg friend had said. So far, AP has not gotten a fever like she did with the last shots.

Lazy River Lover

We made it to Myrtle Beach yesterday afternoon. We settled in and then went to dinner at Thorny's. Hubby enjoyed the ribs there. Today was the first day of Reunion festivities. We met 2 other Kyrg adoptive families at breakfast. We have also met 3 families whose children came from the Kuibyshev orphanage in Russia, which is where c is from. 2 of them would have been there at the same time as C. It was really nice to see the facilitator from Kyrg again. She was impressed with how big AP has gotten and all that she can do.
Tonight there was a luau. C enjoyed the dancing and watching the hula dancers. AP was mad at me most of the night b/c I wouldn't let her crawl right into the middle of the dance floor. I was afraid all the other dancing kiddos would step on her. However, I was back in her good graces when I introduced her to the Lazy River tonight. She loved it! I think we made at least 30 laps before hubby made us get out.

Kiwanis Train

Yesterday, we went to church with hubby's parents, then took hid dad out to eat for Father's Day. After lunch we visited the little park that is directly across the street from their house. The kiddos got to ride on the train that is operated by the Kiwanis club here. The train has been running since the 50's. Hubbies dad said it is the same train cars that he rode in as a kid. C has loved riding it everytime we come for a visit. AP loved it. All the kids are told to scream in the tunnel and AP joined right in.

On the health front, C's fever is gone as of mid-day yesterday. The rash lingers, but is much better. Sat night C got absolutely no restful sleep due to the rash. He scratched non-stop. Last night was a 100% improvement.

We head to Topsail Island today.

C-ism worth sharing

C, looking at a clock, says "Mom, I know what time it is".
I say "really, what time is it?"
C says "50 adults".
???????????????????

Happy Fathers Day!

Uggh (edited)

So we leave today for NC and both kiddos are sick! AP cried on and off from 1:45am until 5:45am, she had a fever and felt like a little space heater in our bed. C woke up around 2am and was burning up, too! We took turns comforting them throughout the night. AP seems a little better today and is actually sleeping peacefully right now, but C has continued to go downhill. He keeps saying that he is cold, and it is never cold in our house. He must have chills from his fever. He keeps asking for more medicine and I have to explain that it too soon to take it again. He says his legs hurt, too. I'm guessing he's got the allover body ache. This should make for an interesting long car ride. I had to call in sick for the last day of VBS and feel so bad leaving the other teacher in my room by herself with all the rambunctious 3 year olds :(

* We made it to NC and our first stop was a walk-in clinic for C. AP and I (yes, I ended up with a fever, aches, and chills, too) recovered fairly quickly, but C got the short end of the stick. He was diagnosed with rubeola, not to be confused with rubella. Basically, it's a virus that we can't really do anything for. He has a rash from head to toe. The doc just said give Benadryl for the rash and Tylenol/Motrin for the fever...AND it's highly contagious. Great, we are visiting my in-laws with a highly contagious virus in tow.

Our New Addition

A patio! Hubby has been dreaming of adding a patio in our side yard since the day we moved into our house. We have a great deck, but during the summer we like to have dinner outside at least 3 or 4 nights a week. Eating on our deck is like being up on a pedastal displayed for our neightbors to see. Not that we want to hide, but being lower adds a little more privacy and now we have a more room.
We head out again tomorrow after VBS. We are headed to NC, then next week down to SC for the CWA reunion. We have had a non-stop month, but lots of great family time.

Home again...but not for long

We arrived home from the beach last night. We had a great trip that, of course, seemed too short. We were scheming up ways to stay another week, but alas we are home. C did great this year. He loved the ocean, especially body surfing. We had great weather all week, but we had double red flags on 3 days. I did not even know that double red flags existed, but apparently it means the ocean is closed. The beach police were driving on the beach to warn people of te strong undertow. C really liked the pool, too. He is getting pretty brave swimming on his own. AP, on the other hand, preferred to stay in the condo. This is not because she did not like the sand or the water, but more because she could not crawl wherever she wanted to, like directly into the ocean or headfirst into the pool. She is a very independent little booger. She tolerated the float in the pool, but only for short periods. We took a little baby tent to the beach so she would have shade, but she thought it was cruel and unusual punishment to have to get in it. Her favorite part of the beach was a little kiddie pool we put in the sand. She liked splashing in that with her toys, but only for a short while. Here are a few of my favorite pics from the week...
We started VBS today at our church. I am teaching C's class and boy are they a handful.

PCB Baby!

We are off to PCB in the morning, well the kiddos and I are. Hubby will be joining us on Wednesday. I absolutely love the beach and could stay there forever. Last year, C did not share my passion for the beach, I am hoping that he will be over that this year, we shall see. AP is fearless, so I suspect that she will love it. We will be gone for a week with probably no internet access. Hopefully, I will have cute pics to share upon my return.

Here is the kiddos idea of helping Mom pack, it gives new meaning to the term "precious cargo" :)
