Cornholes and Cones

Tonight was full of firsts. We were introduced to cornholing, which is apparently very popular up north and not so much in the south. It is a a close cousin to a bean bag toss.AP had her first ice cream cone tonight, too. She was way into it. (Notice the nice booboo on her forehead just in time for the wedding) Baby S was loving some ice cream, too.

Bridesmaids and Bachelorettes

Yesterday was a full day of fun for the bridesmaids in my sister's wedding. We started out with horseback riding in the morning. I must admit that it was a little scary at first. My horse decided that his back was itching and proceeded to lay down and roll over with me on it! He took good care of me for the rest of the ride though. It was exciting. Here the beautiful bride with her horse.
After the horseback riding, it was time for the Bridesmaids Luncheon. Of course we couldn't resist matching dresses :)
Then later it was on to the adult only bachelorette celebration. There was much fun had by all.
Tonight the kiddos and I went with Nanna to a little carnival sponsored by the Catholic parish near her house. It always amazes me how much money can be spent at those things. I'm sure the kiddos would say it was well worth it.

VBS Fun, Good Neighbors, and the End of The Bible

The kiddos are having a great time on "Outrigger Island" at VBS this week, but it wears them out! C, who gave up naps long ago, has napped every day this week. Here are a few shots from VBS. When we got home yesterday, we found a gift on our doorstep from our new neighbors. They are an elderly couple that have fallen in love with our kiddos. Mr. Eugene is a retired electrician and woodworker. He left a very finely crafted (like better than you would find in any store) table, chair, and toolbox on the steps for C. Mrs. Martha, his wife, stops in to chat frequently during her afternoon walks and has already made AP a cute dress. We have never had really great neighbors until we moved. It is a neat experience. Here is C with his toolbox.
And lastly, we finished the Bible last night! C and I have been reading a chapter a night from his Childrens Bible and we read the last one last night. C decided to start over instead of choosing another book, so we will start at the beginning tonight. It is amazing how much of it that he has retained.
I'm off to work on a meal for another new baby! And tonight AP has a photo shoot, and No I'm not one of those moms that wants their child to be a model. AP was sought out by a photographer doing a shoot for a new Stras.burg store that opened nearby. I warned them up front that she cooperates only when the mood strikes her, but they really wanted her there. We'll see... Then tomorrow after VBS we head to Ohio for 10 days for my sister's wedding. Have I packed or finished laundry? Nope.

The Things We Do

In the middle of this crazy busy week, my friend and I found a little time to try out a new spa that opened up close by. This is what we looked like mid-way through. I'm now blonde, I don't know if I meant for that to happen or not...

We're Back!

Home again. Our week at the beach was great. I was not ready to leave. I could sit on beach and listen to the waves and read my book all day every day. However, I only got to steal an hour or two here and there on this trip, but I loved every second of it. The kiddos were great on the beach this year. They both loved the ocean and playing in the waves. Last year, AP hated the sand and wanted to be held the whole time and C was just beginning to conquer his fear of the "loud waves." They were definitely little water babies this time. AP got in the pool with just swimmies on and was able to float around by herself. And C started swimming on his own! He just took his swimmies off one afternoon, put his face down in the water, and swam across the pool! There is no stopping him now. We had good times with our friends and enjoyed trying new restaurants. My favorite meal was at The Back Porch. We really wanted to go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and we tried twice, but the wait was 2 hours even at 5 o'clock. Maybe next time. We are busy this week with Vacation Bible School and lots of errands to run. Our VBS kick-off was today in church and it was a Hawaiian theme. It made me miss the beach even more!
