First of First

Yesterday was C's first day of first grade! It's hard to believe my first baby is old enough to be in first grade.
I think he had a great first day. He seems to really like his teacher. AND his little girlfriend that he gets along so well with is in his class this year. He told me all about their playground adventures the first day. She is still moving to Texas after their house sells, but we sure are enjoying the extra time they have here.
He was able to walk from his classroom to mine at the end of the day all by himself. I could tell he thought that was pretty cool. We are still working out the kinks in our new schedule (especially the EARLY mornings) but I think it is going to work out well for all of us.

time to face the strange changes

What a long week this has been!
Tuesday night we went to the Open House for AP's new school! That's the first big change going on around here. AP is starting a 4 year old kindergarten program 5 days a week. She is just going to love it. She already checked out all the baby dolls and dress up clothes that are in her classroom. Daddy helped her pretend to iron. She did not want to have her picture made with her teacher. I'm not sure why, though. She loves Mrs. K. She goes to our church and knows AP pretty well already.
Then Wednesday was my first day as a full-time assistant at C's school! Big change #2. So far I really like it, and C loves that we go to school together and that I am there all day, although not in his classroom.
Wednesday was also C's day to register for 1st grade. With it being my first day as well, daddy had to do registration all by himself. He did a great job. He even remembered to take a picture of the kiddos!
Big changes come in 3's right? Well, the 3rd change is that Hubs got a new job! It's a job he has wanted for a really long time and I am very happy for him. It also means less travel for him, which sure makes my life a little less stressful :)

Super Quick Cousin Visit

Sunday morning before we left Ohio we met up with my sister, niece, and nephew for breakfast. They had just gotten back from the beach at 2:30 that morning. We are glad they drug themselves out to meet us!

My nephew has changed so much since I saw him last! He will be one later this month. That also means we have a reason to head back up to Ohio to celebrate :)

Museum Center at Union Terminal

Last Saturday morning before we went to the second baseball game we met our friends to explore the Cincinnati Museum at Union Terminal. It is in what used to be the huge train terminal for the city. The building itself is very cool. There are actually 3 museums there- the natural history museum, Cincinnati history museum, and the childrens museum. We went through the natural history museum first. Our favorite part was walking through an underground cave. If we had timed it right we could have seen the bats fly out, but we missed that part.

C was learning how to smooth the stone with another stone.
AP took a picture of our friends between museums.
In the childrens museum there were several things that were very similar to the museum that we visited in Dayton earlier in the week. There was another pint-sized grocery store. AP and her friend spent most of their time dressing up like mommies and playing with the babies.
Daddy and the kiddos found a yurt. If you don't know what that is, it's like a tent and used quite often in Kyrgyzstan as a dwelling.
There was a great water table.
There was a huge treehouse to play in. Unfortunately these little spiders got caught in a web!
I can't believe as often as we visit Ohio that we had never made it to Union Terminal. We can't wait to take our cousins back with us next time.

Just To Remember

AP's sweet prayer tonight:

Thank you that my daddy has God in his hawt (heart)
and he looooooves me.
And bless your hawt, God.
Amen
