First Swim Lessons

Monday afternoon both the kiddos had their first official swim lesson. They will be taking once a week for the next six weeks at a local swim school. C went first. His little class had three learners in it. C said he had to keep telling the teacher that he already knew how to swim under water. He finally got to show the teacher towards the end of the session. (Mommy may have gotten scolded for staying in the pool area, but i wasn't about to not get pictures of their first lessons!)

AP was next up. I was so impressed with how she did during her first few laps with the instructor. She put her face under, and kicked kicked kicked. However, after the first few she had figured out that she didn't really like doing that and she cried and tried to run from the instructor! He caught her and she did end up complying and practicing her skills again. When her lesson was over and I went in to get her she was crying and saying "the water got in my eyes a little bit". She says she is not going back, but little does she know :)

After our lessons we road tripped it up to Ohio to see my mom, sis and family. We enjoyed nine long hot hours at Kings Island yesterday. I took lots of pics and will update later!

Daddy Date

Yesterday Hubs planned to spend the day with C doing whatever C requested. C's request was "let's build something"! The funny thing about that is that if you know Hubs at all then you know that he is not the builder type. But, he entertained C's request. After a quick trip to the golf course, they went to the home improvement store to get their supplies. C requested that they build a flower box for Mommy :) Hubs had no idea what he was doing, but they spent a long time sawing, hammering, and sweating that's for sure.

C was SO excited about the finished product. I love it and think that it turned out perfect!

We gave Hubs his Fathers Day presents early. The kiddos were so happy to show him what they had picked out.

Today we spent the majority of the day at the pool with my dad, Boompa, and Baba. I have an awesome dad and loved celebrating him today. Unlike myself, I did not take my camera to the pool, so you don't get to see pictures of AP in her new floaties, C shooting his Super Soaker, or Hubs and I in a handstand competition (C judged and I won :).

Yet Another Post In Which I Sing The Praises of Summer

Tonight we got in a little park time after dinner.

Who do you think had more fun, the kiddos or daddy?

Then it was time for ice cream in our jammies on the deck.

Summer, how we love thee!

Passing It Forward

One of my childhood memories is that of my mom making a great breakfast whenever I had someone sleepover at my house. She cooked every morning, but even more so when we had company. I can remember sleeping over at my friends' houses and their parents setting out the cereal boxes, or picking up a dozen doughnuts, but not at my house! I think our typical sleepover breakfast was cinnamon rolls and sausage and biscuits. Sometimes it was chocolate chip pancakes. I'll never forget the girl scout trips when my mom was the troop chef and made a smorgasbord of choc chip pancakes, peanut butter chip pancakes and some other kind of chip pancakes. I think our whole troop remembers how fun that was and getting to put it all together ourselves with powdered sugar on top.
Anyway, all that to say that here I am passing it forward. C had a friend spend the night last night and here they are with their plates full of chocolate chip pancakes!

Girls Night!

Last night was a long overdue night out with the girls! We started out with foot pampering, followed by a delicious dinner at Carraba's. I remembered my camera, but left it in the car so these pics are courtesy of a friend's blog. We all enjoyed ourselves so much that we vowed to do it more often.(ignore the double chin, I'm blaming it on the awkward angle :)

(the only two of our group that blog, check them out here and here)

Have I mentioned how much I love summer? I would take a hot sweaty day over a cold day hands down. There's just so much more to do when it's warm outside. Here are a few pics of the kiddos the last few days. We have been trying to find free ways to entertain ourselves. Yesterday we went to preschool story time at the library and then to the park. Today we wore ourselves out in the fountains.

We ran into The Writer Chic at the fountains today, but as soon as we got her little guy and AP to cooperate for a photo op my camera battery died!
