He Scored!

Last night was C's first baseball game of his first season. That's a little bit sad to write, he will never have another first ballgame :( He started out in lalaland at first, I think he was just trying to take it all in. But as the game went on it was apparent that he was really starting to have fun and that's all that really matters to us (well at least to me).

At his second at bat he hit a little line drive right down the middle!!!! He danced his way to first base at a snail's pace, but then ended up scoring. His entire cheering section (and he did have a his own cheering section) was screaming!

He got a hit again at his next bat, but then just sort of froze when everyone started yelling at him to run to first. He was just looking around at everyone yelling and just stood there right on home plate. The longer he stood there, the louder we all yelled. It ended up being quite funny. All in all, he had a great first game and seemed to really enjoy it. We are looking forward to his next game on Saturday, but not to the very early hour that we will have to get up for it!

Shortest Beach Visit Ever

Yesterday we had a few hours between the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception. We decided to drive into Hilton Head and maybe take a walk on the beach. Ok, that would be a nice idea if there were any public beaches there! They are very secretive with their beach on HH. We ended up turning down a street that had a sign that said "Absolutely Private", I guess "Private" wouldn't have been enough? It didn't matter because we turned there anyway and no one was at home. So we took a walk on the beach for the world's shortest beach visit ever. Here are a few pics from our day:

At the wedding: (I have to mention that the kiddos were perfect angels during the ceremony, nary a peep was heard.)

Our beach visit:

I didn't take my camera to the reception/party because that is when the bottom fell out. It was STORMING. And the reception was at a landing in the resort. The bride and groom came by boat...in a thunderstorm! The guests were trolleyed in...in a thunderstorm. You get the picture, that's why I chose not to have to keep up with my camera, I was just trying to keep up with the kiddos.

Now we are halfway through our 9 hour drive home. I just retrieved my pillow from the hotel in Atlanta where I left it on Thursday. They had even laundered it for me!

Check out that cake!

Last night was the rehearsal dinner for the wedding that we are in SC to attend. The dinner was at a restaurant in the resort where they will be married tomorrow. There was an awesome cake that looked like a fish right as you walked in!

(yes, that's really a cake!)

The kiddos showed off some of their signature dance moves.

Hubs is in the wedding, so he did his rehearsing and we had a really nice dinner.

I think the thing that I will remember the most is that C ate the leaf off his strawberry that was on his dessert, which is totally fine and not going to kill you. BUT, in C's mind that leaf was going to make him sick and he freaked out and started trying to make himself throw it up! (which he succeeded in doing) Then everything was fine again. There was no convincing him that it was not a big deal, Hubs even ate the leaf off his to show C that it was ok, but that just freaked him more. Oh well, we are all fine now! The sun is hiding today, but so far it is not raining...

And Again

We are on the road again. We are leaving Atlanta in a monsoon, I hope it clears up as we get closer to the coast. Unfortunately, the forecast doesn't look too hopeful, but they aren't always right!

We had promised the kiddos that we would go swimming at the hotel's indoor pool before we left Atlanta. We got up early this morning and went for a swim. The indoor pool was FREEZING so we spent a lot of time in the hot tub!

On The Road Again

We are on the road to Hotlanta tonight. Then we are headed to the Hilton Head area tomorrow for Hubs' cousin's wedding. I hope it is warm and we can sneak in some beach time this weekend. I am a beach girl at heart and am happiest when I can hear the waves and feel the sand under my feet!

We brought along a few movies that the kids have never seen so we would hopefully cut down on the "are we there yet"s. Right now we are watching The Little Mermaid.

This was one of my very favorite movies growing up. My sister and I had the soundtrack and knew all the words to all the songs. And you know what, I still know all the words and am singing them loudly from the backseat of the minivan! Hubs thinks it is weird that I remember all the words, even the sighs and hums that are a part of the song.

C is really into this movie, too. Not AP so much, I think I sang her to sleep :)

Crash, Cake Balls, and Color Uncoordinated

I think we are going to start calling C "Crash". Let's just say that he got a double dose of clumsy. That may just be how all little boys are, or it could be that he has such long legs that they just get tangled up! He falls a LOT. Yesterday morning he was walking out of his room and ran smack dab into the door frame HARD. He immediately got a very raised and purple line right down the middle of his forehead, very klingon-ish :) We got him to put ice on it and lay still for about 10 minutes, then he was up again!

Today I made Cake Balls that are so yummy and one of C's favorites. I have made them a couple of times before and thought I would share the recipe.

CAKE BALLS:

Bake cake according to box directions. You can use any flavor that you would like.
When it's still warm - crumble it up in a bowl and mix in a can of frosting (I used cream cheese icing and strawberry cake)
IMPORTANT STEP: Refrigerate the cake and frosting for about an hour before you start making balls!
Form the cake/icing mixture into balls.
Melt almond bark (either vanilla or chocolate - depending on your cake) and dip balls in the bark. You could use toothpicks or a fork And voila - one of the yummiest things you will ever taste!!!
I got it HERE. Kelly has lots of easy and fantastic recipes on her blog.

And lastly, I determined today that I can no longer be held responsible for what my daughter is wearing. She has become very insistent on her wardrobe choices and she has a style all her own! She is very into layering things. Yesterday morning we had to get ready quickly to take something to Hubs at the ballpark, so I sent her to get dressed while I was getting dressed. She came out of her room with a long sleeved tee under a short sleeved tee under a baby doll dress with polka dot pants! She was so proud of her outfit! Her outfit this afternoon was a compromise, so it wasn't too bad...
She is also into her sippy cup matching her outfit and is very upset when it doesn't! I have a feeling that 13 is going to be very interesting with my baby girl!

A Date with Chuck

This past week was the kiddos' Spring Break and, unfortunately, it did not match my Spring Break. We are so lucky to have family members near by that are willing to jump in and have fun with the kiddos while we are at work. They spent a couple of days with Boompa and Baba and got to enjoy the park across the street from their house. They also spent a couple days with my aunt and uncle. Friday aunt and uncle took them to Chuck E Cheese for lunch. Actually, they didn't eat lunch there, they just played because C put in a specific request for Krystals for lunch! (I think he knows this momma won't take him there, so he's got to get it when he can :)

My B-Day Gift from Hubs

Our kitchen before:

Our kitchen after:

(And before anyone says that the black counters looked fine. You are right, they did, for 2.5 seconds after you clean them. Then they look HORRIBLE. They are impossible to keep clean and scratch by just looking at them. So if you are going for the sleek black look, don't say I didn't warn you!)
