Busy Bees

Yesterday was the last day of our summer storytime at our local library. How can that be? Does that mean summer is nearing it's end? I hope not. The library's theme for the summer program was Bee Creative. The kiddos had their pictures made yesterday as the queen bee.

After the library we went to the park for a picnic with friends. AP decided that the quack quacks needed her Lunchable more than she did :)

This morning we met some friends to take advantage of the free Regal movies in the summer. We saw Evan Almighty. I had never seen it before. I thought it was pretty cute. It did take some explaining about how it wasn't real, it was just a movie, but there was a real ark once. After the movie we picnicked again then played in the fountains until the kiddos were pooped. They came home and both immediately went to sleep!

In my spare time this week (aka naptime) I have been working on invitations to my little sister's baby shower. I decided that I was going to make cards from scratch. I have this aversion for fill-in-the-blank invitations. Don't know why, I just don't like them. I have gotten pretty good at making digital cards and printing them on the computer. But for some reason, I decided to try my hand at card making. I think it might be my new favorite hobby! There's just something about watching it come together and seeing the beautiful finished project. I'm sure that most of the people getting the invitations won't appreciate the handmade-ness (I just made that word up), but that's ok because I sure enjoyed making them. The shower is luau themed so that is why there are Hawaiian flowers on them. The light blue paper at the bottom has the definition of little boys written over and over. So I overestimated how much paper i would need for this little project and have lots of the blue flower paper left. Any creative ideas on how I could use it for the shower?

Could you somehow turn the extra paper into little notecards that people could write baby advice on? Or special prayers for the baby? Just an idea...

Love reading your blog and decided to finally stop lurking and leave a comment! :)

You are amazing! Not only must you be so very creative, you obviously have the patience of a saint to do all those! I like Betsy's idea of them being some sort of paper for baby advice or prayers...also, if you play any games (like guess her stomach size or what's in the diaper bag?) maybe those papers could be used for answer sheets?
